FreeTimeGS is a new way to create dynamic 3D animations using Gaussian Splatting. Unlike other methods that try to bend or stretch a fixed scene over time, FreeTimeGS lets each point (or "splat") move freely on its own.
Each splat has its own animation function, resulting in:
- Sharper results in fast-moving scenes
- Fewer unnecessary points
- Super fast rendering (450+ frames per second)
The team has implemented this visualisation using PlayCanvas and this also allows for exploring the scenes in VR on a #Quest or #VisionPro (recommended).
